So it’s 2018 and you decided you want to get some surgery done. It’s a New Year and a new you! You probably did some searching online and quickly became overwhelmed with the number of surgeons out there. How do you know which one to choose? In this article, we will go over some things you can do to make sure you are picking the best option.
One of the best things you can do is check out reviews of the potential surgeon you may be choosing. So does that mean just looking at the testimonials section on their website? Absolutely not. Some people will post fake testimonials to boost their image. Not all will do this but to be safe you need to check out external websites.
Here is a list of some great websites you can look at which will display real reviews.
- Health Grade
- Google Places Page
Before and After Photos:
They say a picture can say a thousand words. This is especially true in plastic surgery. If a surgeon is spectacular he or she will have no issue displaying plenty of before and after photos. These galleries are normally categorized by procedure and will contain before/after shots.
If you get to a website with no gallery stay away! There is probably a good reason why they don’t have a gallery.
Meet with Them:
A good amount of surgeons will provide a free consultation. By going to this you can get a good feel on who they are. You can see if they are pushy and are just trying to make a sale. Or if they are asking you a lot of questions and educating you on what you can expect.
When you walk into the office you should be greeted with kindness and feel comfortable the whole time. Once you are with the surgeon, ask him a lot of questions and see how he responds.
Get the prices of a couple of the most reviewed surgeons in your area. Plastic surgery isn’t really something you should skimp on with price. If you see someone offering extremely low pricing, I can bet that their work reflects that low price. The really good surgeons are booked solid months out and their prices will reflect that.
Now are we saying to choose the most expensive? Not necessarily. Just beware of the surgeons offering extremely low pricing. There is most likely a reason.
Experience and Education:
Have they been practicing for more than 10 years? Do they continue their education? Are they associated with multiple plastic surgery affiliations? The more qualifications the better! You can usually find these in the about section for the surgeon. If you have a complicated case,it is better to seek an opinion from experienced doctors online.
On the other hand, I wouldn’t really recommend going with the 75 year old surgeon. Not to sound mean but they most likely lack the precision they once had.
So there you have it. If you keep all of these points in mind when choosing a surgeon you can be sure to pick the best one!
